The Treatment Process Understanding the Problem - the systems will be treated for corrosion with components of Iron Related Bacteria, Slime Producing Bacteria and Coliform Bacteria. Clean -- After all replacement of pipe, alterations to add air relief valves, check valves and coupon monitoring stations, the piping will be systematically cleaned, system by system. This will be accomplished by the injection of our FSS ProClean BD3, a proprietary surfactant with a bio-stat, in a 0.75% to 1% solution. This will be allowed to soak for 2 to 4 hours before being drained to a sanitary waste line. This product will help to remove cutting oils, dope, lubricants, light sludge and loose materials in the system. These substances provide both an environment and nutrients for biological colonies to establish themselves in. ProClean BD3 will not remove heavy calcification or tubercles. It is however a key process in preparation for the next step - treatment. Treat -- After draining the cleaning agent, which by a form of pre-wetting enhances the inhibitor, we will introduce our ProGuard BioNox. This is an effective corrosion inhibitor and biocide combined. It will be injected at a 1% concentration. This product, at this concentration, will remain in the system to provide the on-going protection required. Note that the protection provided is against both corrosion and MIC. All chemical products will be introduced and proportioned into the systems by a BFD-30 (Pat. Pend.) Chemical injection system. Their proportioning accuracy and consistency is excellent. These systems use a water powered motor to mix and inject the chemicals. Therefore no electrical supply is required for its operation. There will be three of these units, one on the suction line of each jockey pump. Monitor -- Six monitoring stations will be provided for installation (by Sprinklermatic) in location selected to provide a good overview of corrosion conditions throughout the building. These stations utilize a numbered, pre-weighed coupon which is to be removed and returned to Huguenot Laboratories with a water sample on a quarterly basis. We include the lab work and reports for the first year. This program complies with ASTM-G4-84 and is the most effective means of monitoring system conditions available.
